John and Susan Laatsch, your hosts

Welcome

Centrally located in the Roaring Fork Valley, the Van Horn House at Lions Ridge makes an ideal home base for your mountain getaway.   Both winter and summer activities abound.

In summer, there's scenic biking, hiking and whitewater rafting, horseback riding in Redstone, or into the Maroon Bells and elsewhere, as well as fishing along the Gold Medal trout rivers - the Roaring Fork and the Pan and Fork.   We are surrounded by the White River National Forest and several wilderness areas.

In winter, of course, there is world-class skiing at one of the four mountains of the Aspen complex (something for everyone), or an easier day at Ski Sunlight outside of Glenwood Springs.   You may also experience cross-country skiing on the Aspen Golf Course, the Snowmass Golf Course , or the historic ghost town of Ashcroft.   Closer to Carbondale, enjoy the course at Spring Gulch.   And experience a snowmobile ride or a romantic sleigh ride in the moonlight.

Perhaps your idea of a great way to spend a day is simply to sit on one of our sunny balconies reading a great book and watching the birds. Whatever your pleasure, it's here for the taking!

Your day starts with a full, very special sit-down breakfast.   It always includes bowl of fresh seasonal fruit and lots of juice, coffee and tea.   Your entree may be one of numerous French toast dishes in Susan's repertoire, a beautiful omelette (maybe veggie and cheese) or a tasty egg casserole. All breakfasts are accompanied with an appropriate breakfast meat, as well as breakfast breads with the egg entrees.   In winter, a cozy fire burns in the dining room during breakfast - and sometimes the deer will join you for their own breakfast on the patio adjoining the dining room!
