Directions

The Van Horn House may be reached via Colorado Highway 82 from Glenwood Springs.

• From Glenwood Springs, drive southeast on Highway 82 for 12 miles as far as the stop light at Carbondale and the intersection with Highway 133. The Van Horn House is located another 3.5 miles from this intersection.
• Continue east on Highway 82. There is another stop light at the Catherine Store Road. You will see a gas station and convenience store on the right hand (south) side of Highway 82.
• Turn left (north) at this intersection. Continue to the fork in the road just as it starts to climb up the hill. Turn right here onto Lions Ridge Road.
• Drive up Lions Ridge Road, past the church, through two switchbacks to the top of the hill. Then turn right into the first driveway. You are here! Watch for deer on the road as you approach; this is one of their feeding grounds.

We may also be reached via Colorado 82 from Aspen.

• From Aspen, drive west on Highway 82, past Basalt to El Jebel. At El Jebel you will find a large City Market and Movieland on the left (south) side of the road, a small plaza and a Texaco on the right side of the road at the main stop light.
• Continue west on Highway 82. The next stop light will be at the Catherine Store Road. Turn right (north) and follow the remaining instructions, above.
